Looking forward to hosting you at the Goethe Benefit! This will be our 27th year and is a fundraiser for the Goethe Forest. Come enjoy the lovely Goethe trails!
This may be your first ride of the 2026 season. If so, please renew your AERC membership prior to registering. If you are not a 2026 member, you will need to pay the $20 non-member fee.
Ride camp is at Helen's house, which is located in Steeplechase Farms, near Black Prong trailhead in Morriston. All trailers must be parked within the gate; no parking on the road or swails.
All trailers should park perpendicular to the fences on either side. There will be signs showing the parking setup.
All vet checks in camp. Crewing will only take place in the fenced-off area between the parking area and the forest boundary. No crewing on trail, nor at the finish line.
Not too fancy ... Water spigots and porta-potties. There are several spigots in the camping area, plus one in the crew area.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. Dogs that bark non-stop when you're not around should be left at home or with a dogsitter. You must pick up after your dog.
Please scatter (really scatter!) manure. Do not leave any piles.
Each rider is responsible for keeping volunteers safe, trail etiquette, and safe camping.
Extra horses may not be brought to this event unless you pay the full entry fee for the extra horse. There just isn't sufficient room.
Your ride entry includes dinner for the rider and camping for Friday night or day camping on Saturday. You may opt for additional meals and Saturday night camping on the registration form.
We love Goethe State Forest! If you participate in the 1/2 day trail workday on December 6th at 8:30 AM at the Black Prong Trailhead, you will receive a $10 discount. If you don't live near Goethe, you can work on your local trails and provide a note from your local rangers to get the Sweat Equity discount.
We'll be riding in the lovely Goethe State Forest. Trails are mostly two-track jeep trails, but don't be surprised if you go through some water and muddy areas. It's Goethe.
You will cross 337 at least twice. For the first crossing in the morning, someone will be there to watch for traffic and advise when it appears safe.
The locals are very accustomed to seeing horses cross 337 but you should still exercise extreme caution.
50s should have hoof protection because you'll be going over a mile or more of limerock road.
We're hoping to make the 25 barefoot friendly but won't know until trail marking begins a week before the ride. Stay tuned.
There will be several water stops on trail, plus some natural water crossings.
Please be courteous on trail, which includes letting riders know when you are coming up behind them, as well as passing safely. No silently zooming up and/or recklessly passing other riders!
Any rider that receives multiple complaints for being reckless and unsafe may be disqualified or only receive a completion.
25 and 50 mile distances only.
Loops:
50: 3 loops
25: 2 loops
Why no intro? Space is very limited, so no intro ride will be offered.
